Method 1: Use The Print Screen Button

Windows has a built-in feature for taking screenshots – the Print Screen button, usually labeled as PrtSc or PrtScn on the keyboard. Here’s how to use it:

Step 1: Locate the Print Screen button on your keyboard. It’s typically found in the upper-right corner of most standard keyboards.

Step 2: Press the Print Screen button to capture a screenshot of the entire screen. Alternatively press Alt + Print Screen to capture only the active window.

Step 3: Open Paint or any other photo editing software and paste your screenshot by pressing Ctrl + V.

Step 4: Save the image by clicking File > Save As and choose your desired location.

Method 2: Use the Snipping Tool

The Snipping Tool is a utility included in previous versions of Windows such as Windows 7, 8, and 10.

Step 1: Open the Snipping Tool. Simply type “Snipping Tool” into the search bar in the Start menu and select it.

Step 2: Click on “New”. Your screen will now appear greyed out. 

Step 3: Click and drag your mouse to select the area you’d like to capture.

Step 4: Release the mouse button. The Snipping Tool will create a screenshot of the area you selected.

Step 5: Save the screenshot.

Method 3: Using Snip & Sketch

Introduced in Windows 10, the Snip & Sketch tool offers more flexibility and ease in capturing screenshots.

Step 1: Open Snip & Sketch tool using the Start menu or by typing “Snip & Sketch” in the search bar.

Step 2: Click on “New”, then select the type of snip you want to use. You can choose between rectangular, free-form, window, and full-screen.

Step 3: Use your mouse to select the area of your screen you want to capture.

Step 4: Click “Save as” to store your screenshot.
